Description:

Delightfully unspoilt country local; close to Alum Bay and scenic National Trust downs.  The name is taken from the pre-Victorian name for nearby Tennyson Down; renamed after Alfred Lord Tennyson ; Queen Victoria's poet Laureate who lived at nearby Farringford House.  This hospitable pub is and ideal base for walkers; strollers or cyclists alike.  An interesting range of home cooked food includes a seasonal variety of fresh local game; fish and vegetables served in good size portions and there is a childrens menu.  Bed and breakfast accommodation is available and a campsite just a few hundred yards away.
