Description:

This delightful pub, on the outskirts of Ryde, is the only survivor from the 6-strong George Lake estate, founded in the 19th century. Previously a wine and spirits shop called the “Eclipse”, it was taken over by the Lake family in 1878 and became a staging post for the Newport-Ryde coach. Surprisingly large pub with many rooms and full of character, it remains a back street local with a friendly lively atmosphere. Well worth a visit. Plans in hand to convert the old stables to Fish and Chips shop.
