Originally a small village famous for the quality of its stone, sadly, now, effectively, a suburb of Ryde thanks to large housing estates.

Turn towards the sea at the bottom of the High Street for a pleasant walk through the old part of the village, by the Fleming's old manor and the church, to Ryde in one direction, and via the ruins of the original Quarr Abbey to Fishbourne in the other.
