Large residential village near Cowes, which takes its name from the local name for 'guernet', a salt-water fish.

The sea front is popular for bathing, albeit very stony. Pleasant walks west via the Marsh, the estuary of the Luck and Gurnard 'cliffs' to Thorness Bay.
