Formerly the Tap to the adjacent but now demolished ‘Green Dragon’, this excellent mock Tudor single bar street corner local has built a fine reputation for well kept ale, with up to 3 available from the Punch list. Although in the centre of Town, opposite the Bus Station and Morrisons Supermarket, this is very much a locals’ pub and has resisted the temptation to be ‘tarted up’, and still retains the feel of the public bar. The pub stages an annual beer festival, and has a good games following. A real gem.
