CAMRA lauches "What Pub"

CAMRA, the Campaign for Real Ale, has today launched its first ever national online pub guide – www.whatpub.com - dedicated to helping the public find the best pubs to suit their needs across Britain.

Following an extensive two year project by thousands of CAMRA volunteers, whatpub.com features 47,000 pubs, around 36,000 of which serve real ale – making the site the most definitive online guide to real ale in the UK.

Phil and Micala at White Lion?

After the sudden departure of Chris and Kate Cole from the White Lion at Arreton, it now seems, according to a sign outside the pub, that Phil and Micala Mew of the Fighting Cocks pub will be taking over. Chris and Kate had been tenants of the White Lion since 2000. A notice attached to both doors from Enterprise Inns gives the following number for enquires 0121 733 7700.

IOW Pub Books Reissued

Island pub author, Kevin Mitchell has re-issued his celebrated books, "Ryde Pubs" and "Newport Pubs". The books, available from Waterstones and all other good book shops, trace the history of these Isle of Wight pubs in facinating detail with historic illustrations.

A "must have" for all those interested in Isle of Wight pubs and a great idea for Christmas presents.

New Pub Opens in Cowes

Two Cowes high street shops have been converted to a pub. Berties, which now occupies the site of Ocean World and Morgans is proving to be very popular with it's spacious and comfortable interior.
Local real ale and live jazz are key ingredients.
